Rivers with Craig Potton - Rangitata

Television (Excerpts) – 2010

I’ve been photographing New Zealand landscapes — just like these — for 40 years. I just love it. It’s my passion: making art out out of the mountains, out of the forests, out of the coastline … and out of our rivers. For me, they are the arteries that connect everything together.
– Craig Potton
... I love Butler for that "forgetting himself" phrase. It's what he did when he took time out from farming and he explored the upper valley: just out of an exuberance of curiosity. Just a desire to go and see what was beyond nowhere.
– Potton on Victorian novelist Samuel Butler's relationship to the landscape
[It's like] you are in the movie.
