Shortland Street - The Ferndale Strangler revealed

Television (Excerpts) – 2007

In 2008 audiences switched on to Shortland Street's 'Ferndale Strangler' storyline; this episode alone netted 624,000 viewers. Actor Johnny Barker's portrayal of insecure murderer Joey Henderson earned him nominations and critical praise. In these 'men behaving badly' excerpts, volatile addict Guy Warner (Craig Parker) rejects his brother's offers of help, and his impulsive actions end in tragedy. Scotty (Kiel McNaughton) grills girlfriend Shanti (Nisha Madhan) about her platonic friendships and creepy Joey lines up a new victim — former love interest Tania (Faye Smythe).

Personally, I always like to see someone come into something that's all lovely and tear the place to shreds, which is what Joey did.
