About

In 1982 Aotearoa reached 'peak sheep', with 22 sheep per person. By 2014 the dairy industry had become a mainstay of the Kiwi economy, contributing four percent to the the country's GDP, and earning more than $10 billion in export earnings. But at what cost? This feature-length documentary follows activist/producer Chris Huriwai as he investigates how being the world's most successful milk exporter may be "failing" Aotearoa. Huriwai visits large dairying operations and talks to farmers and environmentalists — including ecologist Mike Joy, outspoken writer Rachel Stewart and legendary British anthropologist Jane Goodall.
