Presenter Paul Holmes, his big hair and even bigger lapels welcome us to a sunny garden party in a segment from music series Norman. He’s there to interview disco pioneer Gloria Gaynor (whose enormously successful 'I Will Survive' will come along a few years later). Holmes delves into Gaynor’s history, and what comes with her sudden fame, before resuming the party, cocktail glass in hand. In the other Norman excerpt featured here, Gladys Knight and the Pips reflect on the music scene of 1952 (when they formed), and share some of the challenges they experienced, including barriers imposed by racism.
