This documentary takes a close look at Runaway, one of only two New Zealand feature films released in the 1960s. Alongside many excerpts from the movie, there are interviews with writer/director John O'Shea, co-writer John Graham and the cast. Presenter Jo Dalton explains that the main character in this moody outcast tale represented New Zealand's uncertain place in the world during the 1960s. Runaway was filmed across the motu from Hokianga mudflats to the Southern Alps. Cinematographer Tony Williams captured images of Franz Josef Glacier from a Cessna, by "flying straight at a wall of ice".
