From the Album Waiata/Anthems (2021)
In 2010 Annie Crummer released 'Ocean Moon', her Cook Island-inspired love song between the sea and moon. With the help of te reo consultant Pānia Papa, she released this 2021 version. The song uses both te reo Māori and her mother tongue, Cook Islands Māori. 'Hine Ki Tai' is part of the kaupapa led by producers Hinewehi Mohi and Julia Parnell, celebrating te reo Māori through their web series Waiata Anthems. While working on the new translation, Crummer revealed her lifelong struggle with dyslexia. She closed her episode with this assured performance, delivering a unique Pasifika love story.
