This final episode in season four of K Road Chronicles focuses on the people that make food parcels and the refilling of food banks happen — the food rescuers. Organisations like KiwiHarvest in Tāmaki and Kiwi Community Assistance in Pōneke work around the clock coordinating with supermarkets to source food that would otherwise be thrown out, getting it into food banks and eventually into the stomachs of hungry members of the community. Since its inception in 2012, KiwiHarvest has rescued over 13 million kilos of food from major supermarkets.
