A profile of Wiremu Aata Te Rangiamoa Karaitiana aka Billy Kristian. Under his stage name, he became one of New Zealand's legendary rock musicians and music producers. From the late 50s through the 60s he was in major bands like Max Merritt and The Meteors and Ray Columbus and The Invaders. In the decades after, he worked around the world as a gigging musician, becoming one of our greatest bass players. He returned home in the mid-80s carrying on work as a performer and increasingly as a producer. His work on Herbs' album Sensitive To A Smile took the band to new levels of critical and popular fame. In the second part of this item, Kristian works in the recording studio with vocalist Bunny Walters and both artists discuss survival in the industry.
