Actor Theresa Healey first appeared on-screen, entertaining a generation of kids on Play School, having already supplied the voice for the show's famous 'here's a house' opening. She won more fans thanks to a five year stint as nurse Carmen Roberts on Shortland Street. Since then Healey has acted in everything from Go Girls and Agent Anna, to movies Jubilee and Savage Honeymoon.

In this ScreenTalk interview, Healey talks about:

  • Learning not to look bored on the set of Play School
  • Being unsure of the director's intentions on cult short film Kitchen Sink
  • Loving playing the "sassy" Carmen on Shortland Street
  • Filming an embarrassing sex scene for Marlin Bay
  • Being unhappy with her work on Jubilee, and the differences between acting for television and film
  • Loving the experience of Dancing with the Stars, even though it was exhausting
  • Playing a money-obsessed mother on Go Girls

“The character was sassy. She got all the best lines. The writers loved her, and because I could deliver them, they loved that. If they love you, they write for you, and they looked after me so well  . . .  The character was very much their creation, but then I put my little bit of extra Theresa-ness in there and I loved it; I loved her.”
