Rena Owen made her name playing courageous battered wife Beth Heke, in landmark film Once Were Warriors. The film won her a run of awards, and international acclaim from Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, The Sydney Morning Herald and Vogue. Since then, Owen has gone before the cameras in Australia, Fiji, Hungary and the United States.

Biography

When Once Were Warriors made Rena Owen's name in 1994, many thought it was another case of overnight success. In reality Owen had eight years of acting experience behind her. Since Warriors, she has acted everywhere from Auckland to Vancouver, and played nuns, mothers, vampires and singers on the slide.
