E poho kererū ana ēnei toa — proud champions. These two clips for the 2024 Aotearoa Music Awards celebrate a new tide of Māori musicians — and the legacy of those that came before. The first clip sees Jordyn with a Why and Mohi Allen talking music while on a car ride. The two are honoured to be nominated for Best Māori Artist, and the Mana Reo Award for songs with at least 50 percent te reo content. Then Jordyn and Mohi join Stan Walker, Hinewehi Mohi, Corrella and Coteri to share insights about the challenges and excitement of being Māori in the music industry — and Mohi is inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame.

And now our kids are able to express themselves through waiata reo Māori without any inhibition and without any pushback.– Hinewehi Mohi reflects on changing attitudes to waiata reo Māori
