Benson & Hedges Fashion Design Awards 1974

The Wellington Town Hall is full of industry insiders and fashion-lovers enjoying the talent on display at the 1974 Benson & Hedges Fashion Awards.  Models walk the catwalk for sections including High Fashion Daywear, the Wool Award and the glamorous Gown of the Year. Leather and wool feature heavily, as do accessories like turbans, wraps and capes. Model John Chico rocks an array of snazzy three-piece suits while women's fashion is distinctly "retro" with Gatsby-inspired dresses. Reporter Naomi Trigg also covers the official ball, where winners are announced and one Auckland designer hopes for a "hat trick".
