"It's all part of the charm" seems to be the catchphrase for this Intrepid Journey in Cuba. Former All Black Wayne 'Buck' Shelford hits the ground running in Havana, excited to actually see a country and not just tour through it with the team. Buck welcomes an itinerary of cigar rolling, salsa dancing and eating spit-roasted pig, but what really turns his head are the rusty Pontiacs, Ford Zephyrs and boldly coloured Chevys — old cars are a staple of Cuban culture. It's a far cry from the five-star hotels and All Black tour treatment. Buck finds Cuba very different from Aotearoa, but that's all "part of the charm".
...All the different cars here: the old American cars being done up . . . I suppose it's like something out of a movie. It's like going back in time and going to a 1950s set.– Wayne Shelford's first thoughts on the Cuban capital of Havana, at the start of this episode
