Funny how the mind can play tricks. I was sure that, as a third-former, I saw LBJ from the bottom field at St Pat's College in Wellington, as his entourage rounded the Basin Reserve on the way to town from the airport. However, the film shows that his visit was in 1966, and I didn't start at St Pat's until 1967 -- so that's one long-held 'memory' shot to pieces. I can only surmise that the teachers at my school that year, Marist Newtown, which was reasonably nearby, allowed us to scuttle over to the general vacinity of the Basin to watch the motorcade, because see it I did.
