In this short clip from a 1989 variety show, a young Topp Twins (Jools and Lynda Topp) perform an energetic country song, complete with matching fringe-trim suits and impressive yodeling. Variety Spectacular - A Night with the Stars was an ambitious, one-off live broadcast, in honour of Variety - The Children's Charity being established in New Zealand. Right before the act ends, Jools urges the police to "drop the charges!". This was in reference to the twins' recent arrest for busking on Queen Street, which resulted in a suitably theatrical trial in March 1990. The judge threw out the case.
