The atmospheric trailer for Went up the Hill hints at a highly emotional ghost story. Jack (Darce Montgomery from Stranger Things) visits rural New Zealand after the death of his estranged mother. He meets his mother's widow Jill (Luxembourg-born actor Vicky Krieps), and their lives are thrown into disarray, as the recently deceased woman takes turns possessing each of them. The Australian-New Zealand co-production was directed by Kiwi-born, Sydney-based director Samuel Van Grinsven (Sequin in a Blue Room). Set to screen at NZ festival Whānau Mārama, the film debuted at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival.
