Year 12 filmmaker Ivy Feng, from Macleans College in Auckland, creates an introspective short film touching on hope with Sandcastle — the 2023 winner of OnScreen, the short film challenge for Kiwi high school students. Feng took on the roles of director, writer, producer, cinematographer and editor for the project, and also created the soundtrack. The young girl building sandcastles at the beach is played by Norah Feng. Sandcastle was submitted in Onscreen's  narrative short film section. The judges were unanimous in their praise for the film's gentle pace, emotive quality, and use of visual metaphor.
