About

Three friends tour the Wellington pub scene, playing pool and having fun. Then they enter a tournament run by a vicious crime boss. Charismatic narrator Kirk Torrance (Outrageous Fortune) guides us through the rules of the game, as the stakes escalate. Hamish Rothwell's only feature to date was a Kiwi take on the urban underbelly genre lit in England by 1998 movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels . "Smart, stylish and effortlessly entertaining" (The Dominion Post) Stickmen was a hit with young males. It won four 2001 NZ Film Awards (including Best Director, and for Nick Ward's script). Stickmen sold to over 30 countries.
