Brooke Fraser's first internationally released track 'Lifeline' netted her a Single of the Year nomination at the 2004 Vodafone NZ Music Awards. Inspired by a scene in movie Midnight Cowboy, the striking scenic music video was created by merging footage of Fraser walking around Auckland — a time-consuming method requiring meticulous attention to detail. This version of 'Lifeline' is actually the second; the track was rerecorded with a heavier rock sound and given a new music video, for Australian release. 'Lifeline' was the second single off Fraser's debut album What to Do with Daylight, which spent 65+ weeks on the Kiwi music charts.
