Malcolm McNeill is an accomplished jazz singer from Christchurch who does not enjoy performing on television, very much at all. In this short documentary from the NFU series Artists Prepare, his performance is recorded for the chat show Mainly Mahoney. He is candid about his distaste for the process; whether it be the time constraints, "airless" studio, or the "dishonesty" of performing to "the machine" (camera). This behind-the-scenes look includes his longtime pianist Dave Fraser and Wellington's Avalon studios — the "terrible building" in question.
