Koha - Why Stay Home Friday Nite - Part Three
1989 24m Television
- Music
- Māori
- Variety
This is the last episode in a series of three Koha music specials which were shot in TVNZ's (at the time) brand new news studio — too small for an audience but with the latest technology. Creative lighting and coloured patterns set a stage where the artists felt classy. Except for the amazing Mahinaarangi Tocker. She didn't have any stage clothes, and was suffering with a cold. The crew sent her to wardrobe where she was thrilled to find a suit she loved (worn by Ilona Rogers in Gloss). Her electrifying performances of 'Wahine Toa' and 'Rain On The Roof' show no sign of her cold. Host Bunny Walters belts out 'No Show Tonight' and leads band Kairo in the beautiful waiata 'Tukua Ahau' to close the series.
