Kai Ora - Series One

Hosted by chef Anne Thorp, Kai Ora celebrates fresh, locally sourced food and the joy of good company. In each episode, Thorp welcomes a special guest — ranging from musicians and writers to cultural leaders — to share a meal cooked at her home kitchens in Herne Bay or Pākiri Beach. Familiar faces this season include author Witi Ihimaera, musician Moana Maniapoto, and broadcaster/musician Hinewehi Mohi. The guests bring more than just their appetites, each bring their stories and music to the table. With a focus on Māori cuisine and manaakitanga, Thorp serves up simple yet elegant dishes: everything from the classic beef Wellington to impressive kai moana feasts.
