About
The cast of this rural tale includes Goodbye Pork Pie director Geoff Murphy and a sax-playing Paul Holmes. Arguments, alcohol and intrigue abound, as prickly, violin playing farmer Austin (Derek Hardwick, from movie Among the Cinders) rages about the impending sale of his neighbour's Hawke's Bay farm to Japanese buyers. Will Austin join in at the neighbour's farewell, or does he have mayhem in mind? Murphy plays unflappable son Wesley. Amidst the comedy, rural land politics are examined, and the farmers’ band is delightfully chaotic. Stephen Walker's teleplay appeared as part of 1982 anthology series Loose Enz.
