In 2003, an eighth of Auckland's population was of Asian descent. Presenter of the Some of My Best Friends Are series, Pio Terei, challenges stereotypes of New Zealand's Asian population, hearing from those who are far from home, or grew up in Aotearoa and grappled with being a part of two cultures. Terei eats yum cha, learns about the differences in lifestyles, and the reasons people emigrate. He also belts out a bit of Marvin Gaye as he tries his hand at karaoke.
