The Good Word - Series One

Book show The Good Word certainly delivers on its promise, with a jam-packed format that covers a lot of literature. Writer Emily Perkins opens each of the 13 episodes with a book club, where three figures from the literary or arts world discuss their thoughts on a new release. Next, Emily hosts a local celebrity in the studio, who talks about a book that is important to them. For the third and final segment, field reporter Finlay Macdonald presents 'Under the Covers', interviewing historians and biographers about a famous New Zealand book — classics like as Maurice Gee's Under the Mountain, Robin Hyde's The Godwit's Fly, and even The Edmonds Cookery Book.
