About

This classic sci-fi series follows the adventures of Rachel and Theo — redheaded twins with untapped psychic powers. While holidaying with relatives in Auckland, the duo discover a decaying house, encounter strange creatures, and come face to face with the terrifying Mr Wilberforce. The mysterious Mr Jones shows Rachel and Theo what must be done. Based on Maurice Gee's 1979 novel, the show left its slimy imprint on a generation of Kiwi kids, haunted by slug-like creatures slithering beneath Auckland’s volcanoes. Alongside the full eight episodes (see episode guide), read Maurice Gee's memories of how his alien tale was born, and scriptwriter Ken Catran on adapting Gee's novel for TV.
