Leslie Field — editor of British fashion magazine Tatler — teaches Kiwi women how to dress on a budget in this short 1970s television tutorial. She compares clothes shopping to supermarket shopping: meat and veg are the equivalent to skirts and shirts — the staples of your wardrobe — while carbohydrates are the accessories that make you look special. Field changes belts on-set to illustrate how to dress up an outfit. American-born Field wrote fashion tip book Look like a Million in 1978, and spent a month travelling around New Zealand to promote it.
