The farm seem to be in good hands once again.
I especially love to see all the recent stories about Kiwi farmers growing new plant crops. I think the future will be more plant based than animal, and displaying those who have gone this way will give ideas to those wanting to divest from meat dairy and wool.
I'm wanting to see a large scale orchard with ducks and geese on lawn mowing duties, as well as insect control being managed by these types of secondary activities.
If councils allowed for more permitted housing on large farms and blocks of land, extra activities could be established beyond mono-cultures, as specialization constraints curtail large scale permaculture farms. More housing and accommodation is needed for the model to work.

2015's Country Calendar was a wonderful vintage, a real masterpiece of alternative farming lifestyles, an interesting collection of eccentrics young and old. Highly watchable, captivating, interesting and amusing wrapped up in a classic subtle Kiwi manner. Congratulations to all involved on such a bumper crop of episodes, highlighting interesting kiwi personalities and families, righto.

Kia ora. My Grandmother passed away last week (Good Friday), she was the oldest person living on Matakana Island (98 years old). Everyone is talking about a Country Calendar show taken on the island in the early/mid 70's. Is there any chance of accessing the show please? She & my grandfather would have been the shopkeepers at the time. Thanks.

The New Zealand Herald (2014) asked their subscribers to name their favourite all time television shows. At the top of my list is Country Calender :) I love this program because it showcases our N.Z country people & their accomplishing highs & lows. In particular the way C.C. keeps up-to-date with these people some years later whom we have never forgotten. I feel so much pride & respect for this show it's like something we can call 'uniquely our own' as an avid viewer so to speak. As for C.C's theme song please never allow anyone to change this tune even well after we pass. Magically inspiring :)

Approx 25 years ago you did a programme on an ex flat mate of mine who was farming Clarence reserve station near Kaikoura. His name was Roy Cameron and he was killed in a helicopter crash on the station not long after the episode was shown. Do you have this programme in archives and if so is there a possibility of purchasing a copy

The music to Country Calendar was always terrific. It gets mention in this flick as being imperative to their program's success - 'shame they don't actually say what it is!

Any one know?

Hi, I noticed in the last couple of episodes, some camera focused on differences in the disposition, or personality, of some featured farmers and their families. I picked up on some autisms here and there, well before the camera highlighted these normally subtle differences.

My reasons for commenting, are just to acknowledge that loner type neurology is alive and well on NZ farms. And that the country, and the economy will benefit, by these differences being celebrated, and shown in a good light.

Home viewers with similar neurology, the featured families themselves, and the wider NZ neurotypical community, will all benefit by a kind handed approach to those less socially able.

It would be a shame if 'TV sitcom hypersocial urban mores' were thrown in the face of those who shun mainstream social behaviours, and prefer working and relating to animals
