About
In 2002 musician and producer Debbie Harwood took part in TV series Give It A Whirl, which traced decades of Kiwi pop music. But she felt the final edit failed to provide a 'definitive' history — missing were dozens of female artists, some of whom wrote huge radio hits and sold 1000s of albums. Harwood's Classic Hits radio series Give It A Girl rectifies this; over 17 short episodes, she profiles a diverse group of Kiwi female musical talent (their names can be found under the video player). Harwood hoped Give It A Girl would be a TV show; she later refashioned her funding application into this piece on Kiwi female musicians.
