On the Day
1975 Television
- Drama
- Promotional
Long before ‘Ghost Chips’, the Ministry of Transport commissioned TV dramas as part of their anti-drink driving campaigns. Directed by TV veteran Wayne Tourell (Hanlon) early in his career, On the Day was so well received that The Listener's reviewer seemingly failed to realise it was even part of a drink driving campaign. The 23 minute drama sees mates Cam and Colin playing a heroic game of rugby together, before alcohol and emotions begin to cloud their judgement. Neither are conducive to a safe drive home. On the Day was nominated for a Feltex Award for Best Drama in 1976.
