I can't find the names of the veterans anywhere so it's impossible to quote them

A great documentary especially as it captures the veteran's descriptions, thoughts and feelings before they passed on. Also it is a testament to the film's crew that it is still being viewed over recent years. I am a very proud relative of Dan Curham who features as one of the veterans. We Will Remember Them.

I am enjoying these clips immensely, as sad as they are. But they a very much a large part of our history and I wonder if it is possible to buy this film on DVD, please.

@ Dr Allan Martin OBE - do you recall the name of the nurse you interviewed? She didn't feature in the final programme but I'm trying to identify her from the field tapes. She is referred to as Mrs Fabling, she met and treated a wounded Kiwi soldier at Walton Hospital in Britain and they married and returned to NZ. I'd like to record her maiden name and her husband's name for the Archive record.

A timely reminder of the futility of war. The war to end all wars. Unfortunately not so.

As Producer of this film I am glad to note it is still viewed and can still move people. It was a privilege to recruit Lt General Sir Leonard Thornton to tell the story. He was a natural for the screen.I am also pleased we were able to record many veterans of Anzac before they finally departed. The film gained me the last Feltex award but I acknowledge the contributions of those shown in the credits

I was the person in charge as a Turkish military officer with that group in Gallipoli during filming of this documentary. I would like to remind to Chris that one day while we were around hills of Anafartalar an earthquake happened. Just before that lots of frogs begun to scream.

@Geoff: It might surprise you to know that there were "poms" fighting alongside the Wellington's on Chunuk Bair, namely the Gloucester's and Welsh Pioneers. Oh and there were plenty of "poms" in the NZ Expeditionary force too...
Great documentary and credit to all involved: those veterans were an amazing bunch of NZers.

I have only just found this site today, and am halfway through watching the documentory segments. Some truly horrific experiences endured by good blokes. I will recommend your website to friends - best wishes, Simon O'Donoghue, Liverpool , England

My great great uncle fought with the Wellingtons at Gallipoli, and was one of the 70 survivors of Chunuk Bair before the Poms lost it back to the Turks not long after. Amazingly he was sent to the western front and fought in the Somme and Passchendaele - and incredibly, he survived the lot...then died of a heart attack in 1922.

Thank you so much for posting this. I can share this with my children one day.

This is an excellent documentary. It gave me a much better understanding of the sheer sacrafice made by our soldiers. These men are absolute heroes, what they went through simply brings me to tears...

While Gallopoli is important from the point of view of us growing into a nation apart from 'mother England' etc etc.. I would like to see more documentary time devoted to Passchendaele in Oct' '17 and the large part that NZ troops took in that and the pivotal battle's NZers were involved in around the Michael offensive and Allied offensives from mid-1918. We really never see anything about that stuff.
