Ian Mune

Curated by NZ On Screen team 67 items
A collection celebrating Sir Ian Mune's career spanning more than five decades in front of and behind the camera — from groundbreaking TV and landmark films to memorable ads.

Overview

Sir Ian Mune has shaped the way Aotearoa's stories are told on screen. From groundbreaking TV (Derek, Winners & Losers) to landmark film (Sleeping Dogs, Goodbye Pork PieEnd of the Golden Weather) and even some memorable ads, he has worked his magic in front of and behind the camera for more than 50 years so far. Knighted for services to film, television and theatre in 2024 — an accolade that friend Sam Neill calls "long overdue" — Mune has contributed as an actor, writer and director, as well as a collaborator and mentor to many. Neill, fellow screen legend Roger Donaldson and critic Dominic Corry reflect on his ongoing legacy and take us behind the scenes in the backgrounders accompanying this collection.
